Succession Planning for Public Sector

Have you thought about succession planning? Wondering what to do? Need a plan on how to get started? Concerned about what to look for? Then this interactive class is just what you need!

This program is geared toward employees that are responsible for hiring or promoting key players for an organization.

Participants will take away a plan on how to fill their key positions!

  • Alternative Staffing Models
  • Identifying Talent
  • Employee Training and Development


Prep Work

This course is interactive and will involve some prep work before the class that may take up to two weeks to complete prior to class. This information will help you develop your succession plan. We will be asking you to:

  • Determine mission-critical positions in your organization
  • Survey staff for interest in other positions in your organization
  • Review possible open positions due to future retirements

A survey will also be sent upon the registration deadline date (September 5) to gather information for the course.

About the Speaker
Ms. Earl is the Co-Owner of GovHR USA and she is a seasoned manager with expertise in public sector human resources management. Her company focuses on recruitment, interim staffing, management and human resources consulting and professional development. Ms. Earl received her undergraduate degree in Economics from Worcester State College in Worcester and a Master of Public Administration degree from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. She is currently involved in projects across multiple states and has held positions from Human Resources Director to Assistant Town and County Manager.


This training is intended for management personnel who are not represented by a labor union.

REGISTRATION FEES:

  • $55 Members: Organizational Associates Of Members*
  • $80 Non-Members

*Organizational Associates of Members are other employees of the same employer as a current IPELRA member.

Member registrants will be entered into a drawing for a free 2017 Annual Conference Registration on 9/20/17 (winner need not be present at drawing).

Cancellation/Refund Policy: All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing and received by September 5, 2017 to qualify for a refund. An administrative fee based on current per person costs may be deducted. Cancellations received after September 5, 2017 are non-refundable. No-shows are non-refundable.
